Mon, May 15, 2023 2-minute read

Welcome to a journey through time, beauty, and taste in the heart of the Provence region. Here’s a compact itinerary of our recent 3-day road trip from Gap to Saint-Tropez.

Day 1: Gap, Castellane, and Arrival in Saint-Tropez

Gap to Castellane

Set off early from Gap and enjoy a picturesque 2.5 hours’ drive to the charming town of Castellane. Located at the entrance of the Gorges du Verdon, Castellane boasts the stunning Notre-Dame du Roc chapel, which offers panoramic views of the landscape.

For a satisfying lunch, we recommend “Le Bardot”, known for homemade dishes and excellent service.

Castellane to Saint-Tropez

After lunch, relish the scenic 2 hours’ drive to Saint-Tropez. Check into your chosen accommodation. We opted for a “Mobile Home” at Les Prairies de la Mer in Port Grimaud for its affordability and great location.

Day 2: Exploring Saint-Tropez and Beyond

Morning

Start early to beat the traffic. Renting a boat gives you the freedom to explore Port Grimaud, Saint-Tropez, La Baie des Canoubiers, Sainte-Maxime, and more.

Itinerary:

Noon / Afternoon

Indulge in a late lunch at Le Club 55, a Saint-Tropez classic, loved by celebrities for decades. A reservation is advised, especially in peak season.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure, exploring Saint-Tropez. Visit the Citadel, take a selfie at the Gendarmerie, and unwind with a coffee and a slice of Tropezienne at Senequier.

Day 3: From Saint-Tropez to Bandol and Back to Gap

Saint-Tropez to Bandol

Head to Bandol for a wine-tasting session post-breakfast. In my opinion, Bandol offers the best wine terroir in Provence. Visit Chateau de Pibarnon for a memorable tasting experience.

Enjoy a leisurely lunch on the way. For instance, the port of Lavandou, a peaceful seaside town, offers some great options. After lunch, head back to Gap, taking with you fond memories of a beautiful journey through Provence.

Embark on this road trip to experience the charm, history, and gastronomic delights that the Provence region has to offer. Here’s to exploring, discovering, and creating unforgettable memories!
